Dr. Abhay R Vasavada will be awarded the Binkhorst Medal and will deliver the Binkhorst Lecture at the upcoming ASCRS meeting in San Diego, March 25-29, 2011.

The Binkhorst Medal is the highest honour in the field of Ophthalmology. Each year, ASCRS awards the medal to an individual who has followed in Dr. Binkhorst’s footsteps with outstanding contributions to the understanding and practice of cataract surgery and IOL implantation.














Recently
2010 APACRS LIM Lecture Award at Cairns, Australia

Dr. Abhay Vasavada was recently awarded the 2010 APACRS (Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeon) LIM Lecture Award at Cairns, Australia. This is the highest honor of the APACRS.

               
   Binkhorst Lecture
The 2011 Binkhorst Lecture, Pediatric Cataract: The Compelling Quest, will be presented by Abhay R. Vasavada, MS, FRCS.
Dr. Vasavada’s lecture will look at the problems associated with pediatric cataracts. It will focus on challenges in managing the disease and will present strategies for achieving optimum outcomes in these eyes. The results of a randomized clinical trial of aphakia versus pseudophakia in pediatric eyes will be reported.
Don’t miss the 2011 Binkhorst Lecture to be held during the ASCRS Opening General Session, Saturday, March 26, SDCC, Hall E.
The Binkhorst lecture & medal were established in 1975 in honor of intraocular lens pioneer Cornelius D. Binkhorst. Each year, ASCRS awards the medal to an individual who has followed in Dr. Binkhorst’s footsteps with outstanding contributions to the understanding and practice of cataract surgery and IOL implantation. Honorees, who present the Binkhorst lecture during the annual ASCRS Symposium on Cataract, IOL and Refractive Surgery, include some of the world’s most prominent pioneering surgeons.
